1/72 Italeri Mil Mi-24 Hind

My first Hand painted Camo, the MI-24 Hind

This is the fearsome Hind helicopter in 1/72 scale by Italeri. This is painted using Tamiya acrylics, some washes and weathering using Tamiya weathering master. The most challenging part of the kit is the bubble canopy. This required a lot of nose weights because this is really tail heavy.

This is equipped with AT-6C/ SPIRAL ATGMs, 57-mm rockets and the gatling type machine gun.

The kit is hand painted from start to end. This is my first camo, and I had to hand paint also all the camo. Have to work on my photography next.

Enjoy

Hasegawa Weapons Set VII 1/72

Unboxing and review of Hasegawa weapons set VII

This is a view of Hasegawa's weapons set in 1/72 scale. I brought this from a local store in the Phillippines for about $10.50

Box on the side

Another side.

the pack includes:

  • 3x AGM 154A JSOW
  • 3x GBU 31 JDAM
  • 3x AN/AAQ-13 Navigation Pod, usually used by the F-16 and F15E
  • 3x AN/AAQ-14 Targeting POD, the reason why I brought this, to be installed in the F-14. Both the AAQ-13 and AAQ-14 form the LANTRIN pod
  • 3 x AN/ALQ 184
  • 3 x AN/AAQ-13 rack for the F-15
  • 3 x AN/AAQ-14 rack for the F-14, F-15 and F-16
  • 3 x LAU-14 Launcher for the F-14

Layout of weapons to weapons station. Only the F-15 was used as a reference. Better do your research first, as to which goes to what.

Some instructions with a little explanation

Assembly

It comes in three sprues which are just the same, and three decal sheets that are the same.

Decals are just fine

Fine mold, almost no ejection marks.

Details are fine, panel lines are a little shallow. 2 or 3 layers of paint will all make them disappear.

Some come in one piece

Shallow panel lines

The ECM pod. I used this on the warthog

Overall, it's a good product, and will well complement the legacy fighter series.
Thanks for viewing.

1/72 F-14 by Academy

1/72 F-14 A by Academy

Here's one of the legendary birds that I always dreamed of, the mighty Tomcat.

This bad boy comes with a lot of weapons choice. I opt to make it simple, 2 Phoenixes, and AIM-9 and an AIM-7. Will add the LANTIRN pod on the starboard glove.

This is in 1/72 scale my Academy. No problem with the fit, and the nice part is that it came with a ton of weapons.

The scheme is for VF-2 Bounty Hunters. This kit is all hand painted using Tamiya light grey, gun metal, semi gloss black, gloss white and flat base. I used Tamiya accent for panel lining and some weathering master.  This panel lines are post shaded

For the decals, I simply used floor wax. It seamlessly pulled the decals in between the panels.

Having fun with the enamel wash.

With the excess enamel removed.

Almost clean

The one engine tunnel on the top of the picture is clean, the one on the bottom is post shaded.

At any angle, the F-14 is really a beauty. Just hope I gave the plane justice with my build.

looks menacing

I do have lots of things to improve, but that will come on my next build. Thanks for looking.

1/72 AH-1F Cobra by Hobby Boss

AH-1F Cobra by Hobby Boss

This is my second Cobra from Hobby boss. I was so satisfied with the first one that I built another one. This time in light grey color. I hand painted everything using Tamiya acrylics light grey, black, gun metal and OD green. Panel lined using Acrylics, and slightly weathered using weathering master.

hand painting the small parts

Cockpit in place. Decals are fine. This is just lightly dry brushed with gun metal

Tamiya light grey is amongst the smoothest to hand brush

Making progress. The technique with hand brush is patience. You have to do it in very thin layers. One on top of the other.

Acrylics are among the mos unforgiving of paints. They are very stubborn to remove.

With Pledge Wipe and Shine applied. This wax evens out the paint, even if the paint has dried out.

Now the fune part, Weathering using enamels

With the excess enamels removed, and slightly post shading

Post shading.

Finished product. I dont have an air brush, so this kit is hand brushed alll the way. I made a mistake with the color of the rocket launchers. A simple google will show you that they are the same color as the fuselage.

Showing signs of a newbie work

This kit is so worth it. Though I need to further improve my decals. I learned that future floor wax works better than Mr. softer and Mr. Setter.

Twinning

Working on to improve on my next kit.
